School
The school is situated in France, in the Loire Valley, a UNESCO worldwide heritage site, full of history and famous castles visited by people from around the world. Students benefit from a calm and safe living environment in the medieval town of Loches, which possesses a variety of restaurants, shops, cafés and much more. Rich countryside, forests, cycle paths, streams and trails surround our school. Regular bus lines connect Loches to the vibrant student city of Tours, nicknamed “Little Paris”, for its cosmopolitan and artistic culture. Paris is just one hour from Tours on the high-speed rail connection. Tours airport provides easy connection to Dublin.

Course

Students receive 7.5 hours of intensive French as a Foreign Language (FLE) tuition each week. Delivered during the school day by specialist native-speaking teachers in small groups, these lessons focus on developing practical communication, grammar, vocabulary and confidence. For the remainder of their timetable, students join local French classmates for mainstream subjects, providing a balance of structured language support and full cultural immersion. Timings depends on each students timetable.
Accommodation
Monday – Friday students board in 2-4 bedded rooms on the school grounds which are segregated between boys & girls.
From Friday to Sunday, students stay with a carefully selected local French host family, giving them the opportunity to experience everyday life in France and practice their language skills in a natural, welcoming environment. Each student is matched with their own dedicated host family for the duration of their programme, helping them build a genuine connection and feel increasingly at home.
Many of the families live in or around Loches, a picturesque medieval town in the heart of the Loire Valley, known for its historic streets, cafés, local markets and impressive château. Weekend host-family stays complement the weekday boarding experience and allow students to discover French culture, family life and traditions while building confidence in their spoken French. All Host family are vetted, inspected & home interviewed before being approved.

Extra-Curricular Opportunities
Students have access to excellent on-site sports and recreational facilities, including a gymnasium, fitness room, football pitch, basketball courts and volleyball courts. Depending on the student’s age, programme dates, length of stay and availability, extracurricular options may include basketball, handball, kickboxing, swimming, fitness and weight training, running club, modern jazz dance, theatre and glee club. Longer-term students may also have opportunities to participate in football, tennis, horse riding or a specialist basketball programme. Some activities carry an additional fee and must be booked in advance, while certain options are available only to students staying for an extended period.

Absolutely! Here at Tribe Study Abroad, we love to see what our students get up to and their recommendations! We encourage our students to share their experience with us by writing a blog and sending some pictures. This programme is very suitable for friends who wish to travel together and share the overall experience. However, the school does not arrange shared boarding rooms or joint host-family placements for friends. Each student is accommodated separately to encourage them to speak French, form new friendships and fully integrate with local students. Friends will still see each other throughout the school week and can enjoy the experience together, while also benefiting from a more independent and immersive stay.
