School

Our partner school is located right in a quiet residential area with the beach only 15 minutes away. The school is housed in a stylish city building which contains 16 bright and spacious classrooms. The building is equipped with air-conditioning, WiFi access and a dedicated student lounge. The school is also a member of IALC, an international association of quality language schools.

Nestled between Monaco and Cannes in the spectacular Cote D’Azur, the cosmopolitan city of Nice is the perfect destination for teenagers to experience the joie de vivre of French life and culture first hand. In addition to its stunning beaches, Nice has a thriving cultural scene, making it one of the coolest cities in the Mediterranean for teenagers to improve their fluency.

Course

Your course includes 20 general French lessons per week which run throughout the morning Monday to Friday. These classes are ideal for improving your French grammar, reading ability, vocabulary and oral expression. Your lessons will be with other international students (class size max 15) allowing time for your tennis programme in the afternoon. A level test on your first morning ensures that you are in the right class. The native teachers use an interactive and dynamic approach to learning which includes role-plays, discussions, newspapers articles, multi-media and group activities to ensure you make rapid progress.

*Please note, 14th of July and the 15th of August are bank holidays in France. Full-day excursions on these dates are organised.

Accommodation

FRENCH HOST

Staying with a French Host is one of the best ways to improve your French and get to know and experience the French way of life at first hand. To fully immerse you in the language, our partner school arranges accommodation with carefully selected French hosts who are located either 5-25 minutes from the school, either by walking or a short bus or tram journey. The hosts are vetted and inspected and visited regularly by the school’s accommodation officer and are personally known to the school. Students are accommodated in twin rooms (single room on request) on a full board basis (breakfast and evening meal with host, lunch is enjoyed in the school cafeteria). The host may sometimes have another student of a different nationality staying with them, who also attends the school. Hosts are approved by our partner language school and can be a married couple or single person, with or without children.

RESIDENCE

Students are accommodated in the state of the art summer camp residence. The residence is a 15-minute walk from the beach and 10 minutes away from the town centre. The building was the residence of Russian Tsars in the 19th century and can accommodate 130 students throughout 40 rooms. It has its own cafeteria and sports pitches. The residence is located in the same building as the school so students have no travelling to do. Students will be sharing accommodation in a 3 to 4 person bedroom. All rooms have a private bathroom, and some have private balconies or terrace. All bedding and linens are provided. The stay is full board and there is a WiFi area on the campus. All meals are taken on campus in a buffet style, which has many options. Nearby the campus you will find a supermarket, shops and pharmacy all just a 3 minute walk away. There is a garden, a balcony and a terrace. There is a reception desk and staff are on-site 24/7. Note that you need to bring towels and sportswear.

Who will meet me at the airport?

You will be met on arrival by a school representative or your French host and brought straight to your accommodation. Please be sure to email at least 2 weeks prior to departure to confirm your flight details. You will see either your name or the school’s name on a board as you come through arrivals. We will also give you an Emergency telephone number for the school which you should call in the event that your flight is delayed.

How will I get to school?

If staying in the Student Residence, your classes are in the same building where you live!

If staying with a French Host, you will be located within 5-25 minutes from the school, either by walking or a short bus or tram journey.

Is there a gluten / dairy free / vegetarian meal option?

Special dietary requirements can be catered to for a supplement of €130 per week. Let us know at the time of booking.

How will I know if I am in the right class level?

You will have a level test on the first morning before you start your course and will be placed in a class with other students of the same level. Your level will be monitored during the course and if you feel your class is too easy or too difficult then you should speak with your teacher or let us know and the Director of Studies will see if it’s possible to move you to a different class. Everyone at the school is very approachable and once you let someone know they will make sure that the move is as quick and smooth as possible for you.

What does “Full Board” include?

It includes your accommodation with all meals provided.

When will I get my school and accommodation details?

Your accommodation details are confirmed as soon as we receive them from our partner school. This is usually 1-2 weeks prior to departure but can sometimes be much sooner. At the same time, you will also receive our pre-departure information with all your school details and emergency contact numbers for your stay.

What do I need to bring for my sailing lessons?

Everything will be provided for you from the yacht club. Note that this course requires a medical clearance.

This includes a certain amount of homework –i.e. preparing vocab for the next day or a written piece based on what you have learned in class that day. Homework will be corrected and given back as this helps you track your progress. However, the amount of homework given will not affect your time for leisure and or interfere with your sailing lessons.
